Kadena’s Callahan to play soccer for Holy Cross

Yuji Callahan, a senior soccer player at Kadena, has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Holy Cross, one of six players recruited by the Worcester, Mass.-based school, Holy Cross announced in a news release Friday.

"This group of freshmen will help us move forward in the direction we want to go as we continue the pursuit of a winning tradition filled with success in the Patriot League," said Crusaders coach Marco Koolman. "This past season was a massive step in the right direction and adding another talented freshman class will only promise better and greater things."

Callahan scored 27 goals and last May helped power the Panthers to their first Far East Division I Tournament title since 2006. They beat Christian Academy Japan 1-0 in the D-I final.

The Crusaders finished 9-9-2 overall and 6-3 in the Patriot League last season. They lost to Navy 2-0 in the Patriot League championship game Nov. 17.
