Ex two-time API XC champ Strandemo closes HS career in ND an 800 champ

Anybody remember Madelina Strandemo, the former Hong Kong International School distance star who twice won the Asia-Pacific Invitational cross-country 3.1-milers on Guam? Played point guard for the Dragons in two HKIS Holiday Basketball Tournaments against Kubasaki, Kadena and Yokota in 2009 and 2010. She's now a senior and last Saturday closed her high school track career by winning the North Dakota state gold medal in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 17.34 seconds (two seconds ahead of the Pacific record). Check out the race here. She'll run track and cross country for the University of Minnesota, said her father, Guy Strandemo of the U.S. State Department.
