Ex-Kadena star Vaughan earns XC honors, begins basketball

Maria Vaughan, a former Kadena three-sport high school star now running cross-country and playing basketball for Pine Manor College in Massachusetts, was named All-Conference and to the All-Freshman cross country team in the Great South Athletic Conference, according to Pine Manor’s web site.

She has also begun playing basketball at the next level, starting at point guard for the Gators, who won their first two games of the season in the Anna Maria Tournament at Paxton, Mass. Vaughan scored a combined 12 points and had eight assists in 38 minutes as the Gators beat Bay Path 92-70 and host Anna Maria 83-62 over the weekend.
