Volunteers sought for big-time Little League team
Published: May 29, 2012
Geoff Dewitt, who’s in the process of obtaining a charter to form a Little League team representing Americans in southeast Germany with the goal of playing for German national and European regional titles and Europe's berth at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., is looking for volunteers to serve on the board of directors and other positions.
Dewitt’s charter is to cover the communities of Ansbach, Bamberg, Grafenwoehr, Hohenfels and Vilseck, he wrote in a Tuesday email, and his plan is to organize a competitive team for year-round play against German teams and other American community teams. The team would be the equivalent of the Kaiserslautern Military Community and Stuttgart all-stars who annually compete in the Germany Little League tournament which sends its champion to the European Regional tournament at Little League's European headquarters in Kutno. Poland.
Dewitt said the team plans to practice Tuesdays in Grafenwoehr and Thursdays in Vilseck, beginning immediately. Practice time at each location is 5:30-7 p.m., he wrote.
Anyone interested in volunteering or helping in any way may contact Dewitt at sloopyeod@googlemail.com or by telephone at German civ. 0162-1625322.
