KMC Junior League baseball team wins regional opener in Poland
The Kaiserslautern Military Community Junior League baseball team is off to a strong start in its quest for a stateside World Series berth.
The KMC team, ages 13-15, opened regional play Tuesday in Kutno, Poland, with a dominant 11-1 victory over Romania. Levi Keltz and Ryan Woelkers combined for the masterful pitching effort, while Justin Wilson and Steven Yetishefsky notched 2 hits apiece, and Wilson and Keiffer Allen stole four bases each.
The regional tournament runs through July 9, with the champion advancing to the Junior League World Series, set for Aug. 11-17 in Taylor, Mich.
The KMC Little League team, ages 11-12, begins its run at a return trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., on July 13 at Kutno. Regional softball play gets started in Bollate and Caronno, Italy, on July 10.
