Kaiserslautern senior Dickerson nets NCAA hoops deal
Kaiserslautern senior Alana Dickerson signed her NCAA National Letter of Intent to play basketball at University of Alabama at Huntsville in a ceremony Thursday, Nov. 14 at Kaiserslautern High School.
Kaiserslautern senior Alana Dickerson will enter her final season of DODDS-Europe basketball with her post-prep future already set.
Dickerson, an All-Europe wing and captain of the defending Division I champion Raiders, has signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her career at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, an NCAA Division II program.
"I'm really excited to be able to go off to play college basketball,” Dickerson said in a statement. “UAH is a great place for me to be and they want me to become a better person on the court and off the court."
Dickerson, a native of nearby Birmingham, earned All-Tournament honors in helping Kaiserslautern claim the European title in February. The Raiders open defense of their championship Dec. 7 in a rematch against 2012 runner-up Wiesbaden.
The Cougars won their first-ever Gulf South Conference tournament championship in 2012-13 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. UAH is off to a 3-0 start early in the current season.
