Walk along Nativity scenes in Bamberg, ‘Manger City’

Beyond the bustle of Christmas markets and merriment of drinking Glühwein exists another way to experience the traditional spirit of the Christmas season. Visitors to Bamberg, Germany, can discover the city’s historical manger scenes.

Bamberg is referred to as the Krippenstadt, or “manger city,” and the city’s tourism office offers a walking tour of the “Nativity Trail” that connects 40 stations and nearly 400 Nativity scenes.

Ireland invites its descendants 'home'

Ireland is inviting those with Irish roots to return for a visit to their home country.

The Gathering 2013 is a celebration of Irish culture, heritage and history that plays out not as a singular event but a series of initiatives targeting the more than 70 million people worldwide who claim Irish ancestry.
