West Germany, February, 1956: American figure skater Carol Heiss shows some of the style that enabled her to win the first of five consecutive world championships in the recent competition at Garmisch. Heiss, who had also won a silver medal in the 1956 Olympics and went on to take the gold in the 1960 games, was in Munich to take part in a figure skating show. She proved to be the fans' favorite, in great part because of her Bavarian ancestry, and she was able to spend some time with her grandparents in Munich.
