East meets West behind the Iron Curtain, 1954

East Berlin, February, 1954: A young East Berlin resident stares warily at an American servicemember riding through the city during a four-power foreign ministers' summit held in the Soviet sector. The cold gaze was apparently te exception, however; a Stripes story noted that East Berliners were quite friendly toward visiting westerners.
