Berlin, August, 1961: For West Berliners forced to live at the center of international tension caused by the recent construction of the Berlin Wall, this jeepload of smiling American servicemembers on patrol was a welcome sight that drew many return waves and smiles. The troops, from Company C, 3rd Battle Group, 6th Infantry were, left to right in the rear seat, Sgt. Herbert Kaiser of St. Paul, Va., Sfc. Olin Lewis of Dickens, S.C., and Sgt Waymon White of Sale Creel, Tenn.; and in the front seat, 1st Lt. John L Eaton of Sudbury, mass., and Pfc. Howard Power of Jacksonville, Fla.
