RHEIN-MAIN AIR FORCE BASE. May 17 — Wearing a baggy brown suit, a yellow shirt and long underwear, Chico Marx, along with a group of English entertainers, arrived here today from London for a five-day tour of the zone.

Piano-playing Chico denied there were any political implications to his trip.

"This is just for the boys. I would like to go to the PX," he said.

Obliging the Rhein-Main visitors' bureau, Chico signed his name in the VIP register under an imposing list of generals and colonels and quipped as he filled out vital statistics. He wrote that his rank was "vertical," that he came from "any place where there's a dame" and that his destination was "hell."

Chico has been touring England. He said English audiences are "swell" and that you can get a laugh without "giving blood."

He explained that he did not have anything funny to say for the press but said he had laughs for the boys. He said Harpo might come to the EC soon and that he was easy to interview because "he isn't supposed to talk."

Chico said he, Groucho and Harpo had just completed a movie in Hollywood called "Love Happy."

"It's good," he volunteered.

Chico and his brothers are only one generation removed from Europe. Their mother came from Germany, where her father was a famous magician. The brothers' father came from France.

In the beginning, there were five Marx brothers: Gummo, Zeppo, Chico, Harpo and Groucho. After World War I, "Gummo would not go on the stage anymore" and that left four. Now Gummo and Zeppo are running a theatrical agency in California.

Accompanying Chico are the Hendersons, a British comedy team; violinist Donald Phillips and pianist Maurice Kaskepp.

Marx and the group were scheduled to appear at the Palmgarten in Frankfurt tonight, the Special Services Center in Heidelberg at 8 pm tomorrow, the Furth Opera House near Nurnberg at 8 pm Thursday and at the Titania Palace in Berlin at 8 pm Saturday.. The tour is sponsored by EUCOM Special Services.
