European briefs: Leadership changes seen at Ramstein

A brigadier general in Georgia has been assigned director of logistics, installations and mission support at Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

Brig. Gen. Mark A. Atkinson has been commander of the 402nd Maintenance Wing at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command at Robins Air Force Base.

Meanwhile, the man Atkinson replaces will go to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

Brig. Gen. Dave C. Howe will become director of installations and mission support at Headquarters Air Combat Command at Langley.

Details out for summer enrichment program

A four-week summer enrichment program will be offered to students in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

This is the fifth year of the Department of Defense Education Activity program. It will emphasize math and language arts.

Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays at selected school sites. The starting dates will be based on local schedules.

These schools will offer it:

  • Bavaria District: Ansbach, Bamberg, Hohenfels, Schweinfurt, Vilseck, Grafenwöhr, Illesheim, Netzaberg
  • Heidelberg District: Mannheim, Hainerberg, Patrick Henry, Patch
  • Isles District: Alconbury, Geilenkirchen, Lakenheath, SHAPE
  • Kaiserslautern District: Ramstein, Spangdahlem, Vogelweh, Wetzel
  • Mediterranean District: Aviano, Incirlik, Lajes, Naples, Rota, Sigonella, Vicenza
