From the S&S archives: Garmisch a go go

The chilled folks who've been out all day on the snowy slopes of Garmisch can now look forward to a cozy place to get limbered up at night. It's the Garmisch Recreation Area's International Grill and Discotheque which opened last November and already has become a swinging landmark on the alpine scene. The steaks and the other delicious cuisine certainly are a factor. But what really pulls 'em in is provided by the discotheque where the snow bunnies and their escorts join in the latest apres-ski exercises like the frug, the swim, the monkey or the bunny hop. The action swirls around a semi-circular, 60-seat bar with a raised bandstand in the center. When the band is away, the spotlight centers on the opposite end of the room where a disc jockey — usually a she — keeps them spinning into the wee hours.
