CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — A Marine with the 9th Engineer Support Battalion out of Okinawa died Wednesday from wounds he received this spring in Iraq’s Anbar province, the Department of Defense announced Friday.
Sgt. John P. Phillips, 29, of St. Stephen, S.C., was being treated at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Phillips was wounded during a combat operation on March 7, according to the DOD statement.
His battalion is attached to the 3rd Marine Logistics Group.
