The hike was considered the culminating event for the unit’s role in the Eager Lion exercise in Jordan. The two-week Jordanian-led drill, an annual event for the past four years, involved 12,000 personnel, about half of them American.

U.S. Marines from Command Element Marine Forces Central Command (FWD), based in Bahrain, got up early for a 4 mile conditioning hike in a mountainous area near Aqaba, Jordan, June 6. The hike was considered the culminating event for the unit’s role in the Eager Lion exercise in Jordan. The two-week Jordanian-led drill, an annual event for the past four years, involved 12,000 personnel, about half of them American.
