U.S. Marines from Command Element Marine Forces Central Command (FWD), based in Bahrain, got up early for a 4 mile conditioning hike in a mountainous area near Aqaba, Jordan, June 6. The hike was considered the culminating event for the unit’s role in the Eager Lion exercise in Jordan. The two-week Jordanian-led drill, an annual event for the past four years, involved 12,000 personnel, about half of them American.
