Tops in Blue musical troupe's
European tour is cut short

The curtain has fallen on Tops in Blue’s tour of Europe.

The Air Force’s premier traveling musical troupe composed of active-duty airmen is heading back to the States after performing only two of its scheduled 29 shows in Europe.

Mandy Smith-Nethercott, director of marketing operations for the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Services department, said the decision was made due to "recent world events."

She said Wednesday that the group would head back to the States as soon as travel arrangements could be made. There is a possibility the group may stage a tour of bases in the United States instead.

Tops in Blue was scheduled to perform 29 times in an eight-week tour of Europe. The group performed in the Azores, Portugal, and Morón Air Base, Spain, before canceling several other shows after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and then calling off the tour all together.
