2001 Soldier Show now playing
on stages around South Korea

Members of the U.S. Armys 2001 Soldier Show have arrived in South Korea for
performances at camps around the country.
The 22-member troupe was delayed by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and
Washington.
The first performance was to be held at Yongsan Garrisons Collier Fieldhouse on
Thursday, Kathy Surges, an 8th Army morale, welfare and recreation spokeswoman, said.
Other peformances are scheduled for: 7 p.m. Saturday at Camp Caseys Hanson
Fieldhouse; 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at Caseys Hanson Fieldhouse; 7 p.m. Tuesday at Camp
Stanleys gym; 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at Camp Pages gym; 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Camp Howze
gym; 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Camp Walkers gym; and 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Camp Humphreys
gym.

Division at Fort Belvoir, Va., the 80-minute, Broadway-style musical includes dance
numbers and songs ranging from country to R&B, rap, oldies, soul and patriotic.
The original show was conceived and directed in 1918 by Army Sgt. Irving Berlin, one of
Americas most renowned composers.
The 16 performers were picked during auditions at Fort Belvoir in April. They rehearsed
there for six weeks before going on the road.
By the time the tour ends in November, the show will have appeared at 53 Army camps in
22 states, the District of Columbia, South Korea and Guam.
The troupe is to leave for Guam Oct. 15.
