Business hours for U.S. military
base facilities in Europe

Banks: All banking centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Iceland and the United Kingdom will be open Thursday unless directed otherwise. It was unknown whether banks in Italy would be open.

Schools: All Department of Defense Dependents Schools will remain closed as long as Threat Condition Delta is in effect. DODDS-Europe athletic director Karen Snyder said, "All competition for this weekend has been canceled." Snyder added that decisions about future schedules will have to wait until the security situation stabilizes.

Mail: No mail will be received or delivered because of the halt of U.S. flights. Mail was collected from drop boxes Wednesday, and those boxes were sealed until service resumes, said Gene Cavago, a postal operations clerk at Cambrai-Fritsch Casern in Darmstadt, Germany.

Defense Commissary Agency-Europe: Thirty-four stores out of 61 are open. Twenty-four are closed because of security, and three were closed Wednesday because that was their normal closing day, said Gerri Young, public affairs officer for DECA.

The following DECA facilities are open: Bitburg/Spangdahlem, Hanau/Büdigen/Gelnhausen, Wiesbaden/Dexheim/McCully (annexes could close later), Hohenfels, Ansbach, Bamberg, Garmisch, Schweinfurt, Bad Kissingen, Vilseck, Grafenwöhr, Würzburg, Giebelstadt, Kitzingen, Menwith Hill, Fairford (open until 4 p.m Wednesday, closed Thursday), Alconbury, Lajes, Baumholder, Idar-Oberstein, Heidelberg, Patch/Kelly, Panzer, Babenhausen, Bad Nauheim, Vicenza, Incirlik, Gricignano, Mineo, Costanzo, Chievres (open 1 to 5 p.m.), Mannheim (opening at 1 p.m.) and Illesheim (open 1 to 6 p.m.). Call for hours.

Armed Forces Recreation Center: Operations in Chiemsee and Garmisch, Germany, are temporarily suspended. People with reservations should contact the planning center at DSN 440-2575 or civilian 08821-750575.

AAFES: The following facilities are open:

Germany — Grünstadt bakery and water plant; all Hanau facilities; Rhein-Main shoppette; Ramstein Northside shoppette; Vogelweh shoppette; Pulaski shoppette; Sembach shoppette; Landstuhl shoppette; Heidelberg shoppette; Mannheim shoppette; all Darmstadt facilities; all Babenhausen facilities; Wiesbaden (Hainerberg) shoppette; all Wiesbaden Army Airfield facilities; all Wackernheim facilities; all Mainz-Kastel facilities; all Dexheim facilities; Bitburg BXtra, shoppette and gas stations; Spangdahlem shoppette.

United Kingdom — Alconbury shoppette and gas stations; all Fairford facilities.

Belgium — All Chievres facilities 1 to 5 p.m.

Italy — All Vicenza facilities; Livorno shoppette; Naples Capodichino minimart; NAS Sigonella One commissary for two hours.

Spain — Rota minimart, gas station and Seabee camp minimart.

Turkey — Incirlik shoppette and food facilities.

Saudi Arabia — All Eskan facilities.

SFOR — Eagle Base exchange.

Patrons are urged to phone facilities to ensure they are open.
