Airman from Yokota sentenced for distributing, using ecstasy

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan Airman 1st Class Tracy J. Svendsen of
the Air Force News Agency here was sentenced to two years confinement in military jail for
distribution and use of the drug ecstasy.
Svendsen, who was reduced to the lowest enlisted rank of airman
basic, also pleaded guilty to using methamphetamine and LSD.
The illicit drug use and distribution occurred between Oct. 15, 1999,
and June 5, 2000, at or near the base, according to the base legal office.
Svendsen was sentenced during a general court-martial at the federal
courtroom here last week.
Svendsen was ordered to forfeit all pay and allowances and received a
bad-conduct discharge.
Svendsen, from Bellevue, Neb., will serve his sentence at a military
jail in the United States, most likely in Miramar, Calif., according to the base legal
office.
The lead prosecuting attorney in the case was Air Force Maj. John E.
Hartsell, with Air Force Capt. Chris. M. Schumann acting as assistant trial counsel. Air
Force Capt. Kate Oler of Osan Air Base, South Korea, represented Svendsen.
