Guam, Hawaii, Alaska bases to gain
Air Force manpower slots

Guam’s Andersen Air Force Base is among six Pacific Air Force installations scheduled for upcoming force structure changes, command officials announced Saturday.

"The actions will enable the Air Force to meet budget realities and result in a more efficient, ready and capable force," PACAF spokesman Air Force Maj. James Law said in a news release.

The changes add 196 military and 62 civilian positions at PACAF installations in Hawaii, Alaska and Guam.

"No shifting of aircraft assigned to PACAF is involved with the structure changes," said Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Darla Ernst, a PACAF spokeswoman.

When the changes are in place, PACAF officials said, bases will be better able to support aerospace expeditionary operations and aircraft maintenance.

Changes at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam include:

  • The 36th Maintenance Squadron gains 10 military positions to support the Conventional Air Launch Cruise Missile program.
  • The 36th Medical Group loses 11 military and five civilian positions as a result of streamlining hospital services.
  • The 36th Logistics Group gains six civilian positions for Quality Assurance evaluator support.
  • The 36th Civil Engineer Squadron gains four military positions to provide War Reserve Material support.
  • Other minor realignments result in an increase of six military positions and a decrease of one civilian slot.
