New analysis chief takes command
at RAF Molesworth

RAF MOLESWORTH, England U.S. Navy Capt. Tony Cothron took
charge of the European Commands Joint Analysis Center at RAF Molesworth during a
ceremony Aug. 10.
He replaces U.S. Navy Capt. Michael Noll, who has moved to the U.S.
Space Command at Colorado Springs, Colo. Noll had commanded the JAC since September 1999.
The JAC gathers and analyzes data for all services covering an area
that includes 91 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
It supports operations conducted by the U.S., NATO and U.S. allies
during peace and war. It has recently monitored events in the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda
and northern Iraq.
Cothron comes to the JAC from the Pentagon. His previous assignments
have included shipboard duties aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS George
Washington. He was also the assistant chief of staff for intelligence for the 6th Fleet in
Gaeta, Italy.
He was commissioned after Aviation Officer Candidate School in April
1978, following graduation from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in
history.
He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense
Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal.
He and his wife Elizabeth have two sons, Alex, 12, and Erik, 7.
